The tomatoes are trained vertically by tying them to poles and pruning most of the side branches.

I built a boardwalk around the tomato bed. On the left are sweet peppers.

Sweet peppers—they are caged for greater support. I chopped down some trees, and used the branches as edging.

What? In July 2002, I moved into a new apartment with a huge overgrown backyard. My landlord told me I could do “whatever I want back there”. I decided to chop down the brush, and grow some food. This web journal keeps track of the adventure.
