SSVP Election: Look Before You Vote!

The last week has seen the Student Services VP race triple in size. From one candidate, Jenny Moore, the field has widened to include Levi Wolfe, and now Tim Griskey. The next few days of this deja vu campaign will be difficult for Moore, as she fights to keep her platform visible under the rigid constraints of the revised election rules while her competition can campaign in any fashion they desire (including flyers and posters) without fear of penalty.
We here at ASGossip would just like to urge everyone in Voterland to THINK and LOOK before you VOTE, especially in what has become the hottest race on next Tuesday’s ticket. Griskey and Wolfe are eager and have some strong ideas, but their motives in choosing to run at such a late hour must be called into question. Don’t forget that Moore has campaigned hard already for an entire week, submitting herself to the typical battery of interviews, debates, and personal appearances even though she had no competition in her bid for Student Services VP. She has put forth a great deal of time and effort, nothing that can be duplicated by either Wolfe or Griskey in just a few days’ time. Based on her hard work and dedication in her campaign, we know how much winning means to Jenny Moore—what does it mean for the other candidates?
It’s entirely possible that Tim Griskey or Levi Wolfe deserve the position of Student Services VP more than Jenny Moore. Sure, they may be better candidates. But just because they’re new faces on the scene, highly visible and intensely critical of Moore’s ideas, doesn’t mean that they deserve a chance at serving on the Exec Board of ASG. Take the time to research this hot race and think for a few minutes before casting your vote next Tuesday. Carelessly selecting a fresh write-in candidate for the job could prove to have disastrous consequences.
