Election Commissioner not Repsonsible for Leaks

Thursday’s front page Daily article hints at a possible connection between former election commissioner Tiffany Farriss and the leaked results of Tuesday’s “practice election.” Whatever the chain of links, the fact remains that it happened. Nevertheless, Nice Guy Eddie tries to clear Miss Farriss’s name.
I would like to respond to the scurrilous accusations in today’s Daily that Tiffany Farriss might have been involved in leaking information about the election results. First of all, I have it on very good authority that she won’t even tell her own boyfriend what the results were, so the idea that she would have leaked the information to anyone other than the election judges is absolutely absurd.
I have no problem with the journalistic device of quoting anonymous sources for a story—after all, that’s how Woodward and Bernstein got Nixon. When the Daily chooses, however, to report an anonymous source *speculating* about who made the leaks, any sense of journalistic integrity that they might have had left is flushed immediately down the toilet. In addition, the Daily neglected to include the most significant comment Tiffany made when she talked to them, which was that many of the rumors she’s heard are just plain wrong. There is no evidence that the actual election results have been leaked to anyone—everything in the Daily’s cover story was based on rumor and innuendo.
